Re-submission of synopsis-2

Short film 1:Discontented Life

This story starts from a man who was running towards his car holding a bag. He hurriedly sat in it and started to drive. While driving, expression of anger and frustration surrounded his face, he kept on checking his watch. While checking his watch the film starts to rewind and stops at the time after which the reasons behind his uncomforting began. (Flashback) Every morning he had to face the same routine i.e. a fight with his wife over small issues, then he used to go to work from 9 to 5 (which he found quite unproductive) and then used to come home where he had to face his father’s arguments and his wife’s disagreements over everything. (The scene from the current situation comes again) He stopped at a bus stop and paid for the ticket. He waited at the waiting area for the bus to departure. He received a call from his wife; while he looks at it the second flashback occurs. Earlier that day, during a fight with his wife, he gathers the courage to leave to some place where he could find peace despite having a family. He packed a bag and flooded away from the house ignoring everything. (Flashback ends) The announcement from the management of the stop occurred and he decided not to answer the call. He picked up his bag and went towards the bus. When he was about to be seated, his alarm clock went on having a description ‘pick Amna from school’. When he saw that he forgot about all the thoughts he had been having at that particular moment, his stress, his frustration, everything and ran towards his car to pick up his daughter. When he reached her school he waited anxiously to see the most important part of his life that he was about to leave before. While he saw his daughter running to him with a big smile on her face, that’s when he thought to himself that some things in life are worth too much to let go.

The movie genre for our short film is drama, as the topic we are dealing with is serious. The
sub-genre, which covers this short film, is melodrama. Melodramatic plots often deal with
"crises of human emotion, failed romance or friendship, strained familial situations, tragedy,
illness, neuroses, or emotional and physical hardship." This exactly goes with the topic we
are showing in our short film. Our main character has failed relationship with his father and
wife. It is said that if they are targeted to a male audience, then they are called "guy cry"
films. This short film is one of those.

This film targets mid-teenagers and adults of all ages. This is because at these ages people have developed the maturity to understand such situations in life. This age group would be able to understand the ideology behind our short film easily. Some might even relate the concept with their own lives, which would make it more interesting for them.
