This documentary takes the viewers through nature.



This is a simple documentary. It has no interviews or anchors etc. It purely observational where different angles of the natural world are captured.

The cinematography plays a significant role in this documentary. It begins with an establishing shot of the mountains. The camera revolves around vista shots and close up shots of the entire area as a whole and the objects that lay within in particular.

 

The music of the video is soft, covering sounds of the movements of the objects and creatures that dwell in the wild.

HEARTBEAT OF THE PEOPLE:

The documentary is based on capturing the emotions and unity of people while carrying out the 'Occupy Wall Street' movement. It covers the various aspects of this particular movement, showing the different people and their activities during it.


  

The genre of the documentary is classic. The sub genre is observational as the director of the documentary has filmed people while carrying the strike, their opinions and emotions who made the strike possible. It takes the viewers through the inside view of the movement where they get to witness public standing strenuous for the cause.

The recce of the documentary is the same place where this particular movement took place. The location does not change throughout the entire clip.

When it comes to camera angles the documentary starts with a long shot highlighting a man standing with a sign stating his opinion on it. This documentary starts with a fast forward effect covering the people crossing by him. This shot was the establishing shot which stated the concept of the documentary to some extent and gave a wider view of the milieu of the location. The camera makes its way in between the huge gathering and takes candid shots, in particular, medium shots and mid long shots, with the help of special effect such as fade in,  of people, the objects they had in their hand describing what they felt and different wordings that were related to the situation. Moreover, the lights in this documentary are not professionally set, the documentary is shot outside due to which the help of natural light was used.




The music through out of video did not change. Throughout, the music had been soft in nature suiting to the cause people had gathered for

HIGH ON ECSTASY:

The other documentary is a classical one. This documentary covers the goes in depth of the lives of those people who consume drugs and the likely effects caused by this particular act. The documentary revolves around two students who are involved in this activity. These two persons observed closely, capturing their attitudes, their moods and their behaviors after using drugs in order to best describe the exact same after effects of millions of people going through the same things by focusing of two just people. This particular observational technique became the main point of our analyzing this documentary as we will also be taking the help of two kids to define the same physiological preferences of millions of children around the world.



The genre of this documentary is classical with that of observational. The story is based on capturing the activities of the people who use drugs with the help of two people to illustrate the overall phenomena. There is narration, interviews, clips from a disco which shows the activities of students after they are on drugs, the location etc.



The location of the documentary is not fixed. It changes with the story. The camera follows the students on the places they visit. Other then that, a disco has been filmed in order to show the likely effect of drugs which causes them to go out of control not knowing what they are doing.



The camera angles are similar to those of the codes and conventions of a classical documentary. The camera focuses on the imperative objects of the documentary especially drugs, the long shots (candid shots) of the student taking drugs in order to effectively film his/her while taking drugs, the camera is hand held at some places in order to give a lively effect to the scenes while following the students etc. The lights that are used normal lights of any room, however, in the opening sequence the key light is focused on different drugs as to give an idea to the viewers about the story if the entire documentary and also the flashing disco lights are captured while taking a wide shot of the disco places to give the viewers a feel of the actual place.



The music changes on different situations. Fast music is played on clips of disco to complement the feel of the entire place, some fast music is played at places where the students go out on streets being high on drugs etc.    The music slows down at places of narration so that the narrator is clearly understood by the audience.

Continuity Editing

Establishing shot:
This shot informs the viewers about the location where the corresponding scenes will take place.












180 Degree rule:
This shot is taken on the basis of an imaginary line which a camera can not pass through. This shot is usually taken at times of a conversation between two people.







Shot Reverse shot:
This shot mostly taken during conversations between two people. The camera is normally placed over the shoulders of the people talking to each other.


























Fast editing:
This consists of a number a shots  which are covered in a short duration, very fastly, which connotes something happening quickly. I took these pictures from the opening sequence of the movie DARK SKIES.







Point of view:
This shot shows the point of view of a person, e.g. something he/she is looking at.







Dissolve:





































Slow Editing: The shots are used for comparatively long duration of time than the shots of fast editing. The concept is the same; it is the duration of scenes that vary.





Match Cut: This technique matches an object in the first shot to an object in the second shot to bridge a gap between them.










Jump Cut: The shots of an object are captured in a sequence however the camera positions are not fixed. They vary in movement.

Eye-line match: This shows a person in one angle and the other person standing near him/her to show what the first person is looking.
